Female priest's uniform

“Priests communicate their office through their uniform, for example at parishioners' celebrations. It is important that the priest meets the parishioners appropriately.” – Dean Pirkko Poisuo

The design of the new uniform has paid attention to both historical and liturgical tradition as well as a functional ensemble. Our chief designer Kirsimari Kärkkäinen won the uniform design competition for female priests in 2008 with her proposal ''Valon lähde" (Source of Light). The uniform was put into use in 2011 and it has has various parts that users can choose according to their needs and partly also according to their personal preferences. The collection was also awarded by Grafia the Hopeahuippu -award (Silverpeak award) in the category of product design in the Vuoden Huiput (Peaks of the Year) competition.

“Kirsimari Kärkkäinen is a technical and artistic multi-skilled professional who takes user-centricity into account in terms of materials, usability and aesthetics. Working with Kirsimari is easy. She is a goal-oriented and user-centric project expert. Kirsimari has a strong artistic and technical understanding of the whole and detailed expertise.” – Dean Pirkko Poisuo
