A few days ago I received a message from a customer: "Do I dare to buy? Is this a Finnish online store? Do you exist - the last blog post is from 2020?!"
I have certainly had a bad conscience about not writing blog updates during the past windy years. Time has passed while responding to the unexpected challenges that have come our way. But the customer's message was a welcome wake-up call - it is important to communicate about reliability, Finnishness, where the money goes and by what means, and how we have managed to stick to our basic principles during challenging times; responsibility, local production, good design, sustainability and usability.
Today, Friday, December 1st, we celebrate Buy Work to Finland Day by addressing Finns. In the midst of ongoing crises, both companies and consumers are faced with choices: in which situations should they invest in quality and where should they save money? Should they choose more responsibly and how do they know what a responsible choice is?
Since the first days of our operations, we have used our slogan "Clothes that last time, use and looks". In other words, we make durable, usable, timelessly stylish clothes for everyday life. In accordance with our promise, all design is based on necessity and usability, as well as tested materials and products, based on our history of expertise, in accordance with workwear principles. The traditional fashion industry, which fortunately is also changing, has been based on marketing machines that push artificial needs, new colors and trends on people in order to maintain interest and create unnecessary consumption. Telakka, on the other hand, eliminates everything unnecessary and wants to create ease of dressing for its users that works in any situation and lasts for years. In our opinion, the most responsible option is to take care of the clothes you already have and purchase durable and timeless products from Finnish operators.
I was happy to be able to answer a worried and rightly cautious customer in the online world: "Yes, we exist". We are a Finnish company. Our online store is reliable. We still manufacture our products from Finnish and European tested materials in local production in Finland and Estonia. So we buy work in Finland responsibly and thoughtfully, and we hope that our customers choose us for that very reason!
PS. In honor of Buy Work to Finland Day and next week's Independence Day, I chose a photo for this blog from the early days of our own Telakka collection, from 2016, where I am wearing a bright blue Luoto dress. The model, material and color are still in our collection and my dress in question is still as good as new despite hundreds of uses - so it will last time, use and looks - I dare say.
Wishing you a happy Buy Work to Finland Day,
